The National Library of Medicine (NLM) announces Outside the house/Inside: Immigration, Migration, and Wellbeing Treatment in the United States, a new on the net exhibition.
Visitor curated by historian and educator Beatrix Hoffman, PhD, Northern Illinois College, Outside the house/Inside mostly characteristics objects from the NLM historical collections and explores the history of thoughts about immigrant health and immigrants’ and migrants’ ordeals with U.S. health treatment since the late 1800s. Wellbeing treatment and drugs have performed a part in inclusion and exclusion, in “assimilation” and discrimination, in dividing communities and strengthening them. The history portrayed in this exhibition reminds us that we all share a want to shield our health and very well-getting.
