How ‘Iron Cowboy’ James Lawrence Prepped to Tackle a hundred Consecutive Ironmans

Men’s Journal: How did the notion of the Conquer a hundred begin?

James Lawrence: I’d say I 1st regarded it two a long time back. My system was having to a location in which it was totally recovered from the fifty try. I was starting up to crave a thing new—something larger. Now that I’d accomplished the fifty, executing extra grew to become achievable. On reflection we commenced to see some of the logistical and coaching errors we made. There had been crystal clear points we could employ to thrust the boundaries further more.

What variety of a physical toll did fifty Ironmans get on your system?

There was a tear in my shoulder I had to offer with only 5 times in. I made significant tendinitis in my legs, as well as foot blistering and toenail reduction. I feel I dropped 6 of my 10 toenails over the course of it. I was encountering system deterioration throughout, but you just had to master to offer with it. You master how to manage pain. The most important fallout I dealt with was completely numb fingers and toes soon after finishing. It likely took me 6 months, if not a year, for me to get that sensation again. And now that I have it again, I’m able to get again out there and try a thing mad all over again.
